Fashion design is both a singular practice and a series of interrelated skills, from sketching and patternmaking to tailoring and construction. But for WUSTL fashion majors, the puzzle pieces all come together Sunday, May 5, when the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts presents its 84th Annual Fashion Design Show.

To highlight career flexibility benefits, the Office of Faculty Affairs at the School of Medicine is hosting forums on family resources, work-life fit and career paths from noon-1 p.m. May 6-8 in Schwarz Auditorium. The lunch program is free for medical school faculty. Shown, Bess Marshall, MD, associate professor of pediatrics, used the benefit to work part time after a relative suffered a heart attack.

Freshman Finale was held April 23 in College Hall on the South 40. The event included remarks from College of Arts & Sciences Dean Jennifer R. Smith, PhD, and a representative of the freshman class, as well as student performances. Awards were presented to WUSTL community members who have had a positive impact on students in their first year.

Stuart Wolfer, an Olin Business School 1993 alumnus, was an Army reservist who was killed during a mortar attack in Iraq in 2008. The ROTC celebrated Wolfer’s life and commitment to his country with the unveiling and dedication of the Maj. Stuart Adam Wolfer Hall at North Campus.
